Rosacea

The science bit

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a common but poorly understood long-term skin condition. Rosacea will usually appear on the face, more than likely causing inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead and eyelids.

It may cause redness, increased prominence of blood vessels, swelling and even skin eruptions very like acne. Early diagnosis of rosacea can significantly increase the effect of its treatments, and prevent the condition from getting worse.

If you suffer with rosacea flare-up there are some topical treatments you can get via your GP. But really good skincare and protection is of paramount importance when you want to keep the condition under control.

Types of Rosacea

Acne Rosacea can be very debilitating. It presents in the form of sore red pustules, which can fortunately be treated with topical cream available from your GP or our clinic.

Rosacea without acne can be red and sore, and can also present with broken veins on the skin. We treat these very successfully using Veinwave or IPL.
