Gynaecomastia – Man Boob Reduction

The science bit

What is Gynaecomastia/Moob Reduction?

Man boobs or moobs are fairly common. They tend to be either hereditary, down to being overweight, or caused by steroid misuse. Gynaecomastia involves removing the male breast gland and often also removing breast fat at the same time, under a local or general anaesthetic.

What Can I Expect From Man Boob Reduction?

Your surgeon makes a small incision near the areola to gain access to the gland, which they remove. We can use liposuction at the same time to remove stubborn areas of surrounding fat.

What is the Recovery Time From Gynaecomastia?

You will need to wear a special compression garment for a period of time afterwards, but you can usually return to work within a week. We will need you to visit the clinic to have your stitches removed after 7-10 days.

How Long Does a Moob Reduction Last?

Breast gland removal is permanent. The same goes for any fat we remove from the area – those local fat deposits can’t return to the same area.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are the Side Effects of Man Boob Reduction?
You will probably get some swelling and tenderness, which you can take painkillers for. Infection is rare, but we’ll provide you with antibiotics to take following the procedure.
What Are the Alternatives to Gynaecomastia?
We can use non-surgical fat dissolving injections to take fat away from the male breast area, but surgery is the only option if you want to have the breast gland itself removed. We will give the expert advice at your initial consultation.
How Will I Feel?
Man boobs can lave you feeling very self-conscious, and because they aren’t necessarily down to weight problems. We see plenty of slim men with moobs. Having them sorted out means you’ll feel a lot more confident in a fitted T, happy to go topless, more trim and more masculine.
