What is an Arm Lift? The Science Bit

As we age, the elasticity of our upper arm skin starts to change. Heat treatments are available to tighten this loss of elasticity, such as radio frequency and ultrasound treatments (linkto Radio Frequency). Neither of these are permanent options but they can have great effects on otherwise untoned arms.

Who Is Arm Lift Treatment Suitable For?

This treatment is mainly requested by women. Bear in mind it isn't suitable if you have a lot of loose skin on your arms.

What Does Arm Lift Treatment Involve?

An arm lift involves an application of either radio frequency (BodyFX) (link to BodyFX) or high intensity frequency ultrasound (HIFU) (link to HIFU). Radio frequency requires as many as six treatments performed weekly. With HIFU you will need 1-2 treatments, 3-6 months apart. We will talk through the choices with you at your initial consultation.

This treatment is not uncomfortable. In fact, radio frequency is quite pleasantly warm. On the other hand HIFU (link) can be a little uncomfortable, but we'll always take a patch test so we know exactly what level of ultrasound you can tolerate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are the Side Effects of Arm Lift Treatment?
There may be a small bruise where the applicator has been positioned on your skin, but this will subside within a week. It’s important that the treatment is performed by an experienced practitioner in heat-based treatments, to avoid any unnecessary side effects. You can rely on us for highly experienced practitioners.
What Is the Recovery Time From A Non-Surgical Arm Lift?
You can return to normal activities immediately with either HIFU or Radio Frequency. With radio frequency treatment it is important to complete the entire course to get the best outcome.
How Long Does It Last?
Radio frequency treatment will need to be topped up after about 6 months. HIFU will last from 12-18 months before you need another treatment.
What Are the Alternatives To A Non-Surgical Arm Lift?
The alternative is a surgical Brachioplasty, which involves a scar under the arm and a longer recovery period. If this is more suitable for you, we will let you know at your consultation.
How Will I Feel?
Once your arms are neat and toned-looking again, you can wear sleeveless clothing with confidence and feel great in swimwear. Our clients say they love the feeling of freedom and confidence that comes with the improved appearance of their arms.
