Vaser Lipo, Liposuction, Liposculpture and Smart Lipo

These excellent treatments are designed to remove stubborn excess fat cells that won't respond to diet and exercise. They can be performed on an out-patient basis.

Vaser Lipo

Vaser Lipo is one of the newest ways to treating stubborn areas of fat and cellulite, and is the first choice for thousands of men and women.  It's a "new generation" ultrasound liposuction procedure that's extremely successful at removing unwanted fat from arms, hips, cheat, breasts, knees, ankles, back, buttocks, thighs and more.

Vaser Lipo uses ultrasonic energy to target and break up fat deposits so the fat can be removed naturally and safely.

Smart Lipo

Smart lipo is particularly effective for small problematic areas.

Pre Liposuction

Who is it suitable for?

Anyone who has problematic isolated areas that do not respond to diet and exercise.

PLEASE NOTE: This procedure is not suitable for anyone who has a general excess weight problem.

What can I expect?

In the majority of cases this procedure can be performed as a day-case under local anaesthetic. The actual method used to extract the surplus fat, for example, smart laser, vaser liposuction, liposuction will have been decided during your thorough initial consultation and is decided by factors like:

  • The area being treated
  • The number of areas needing treatment
  • Skin elasticity

Each method extracts the excess fat cells permanently.

Possible Risks and Side-effects

Bruising and swelling

You can expect some bruising and swelling but this should clear up within 2 weeks. You will need to wear the elastic support garment provided to you for 1 week following the procedure.  After your first check-up you be able to have a shower.  Until then it's advisable to keep the area dry and just have strip-washes.

Infection

We give you antibiotics during the operation and to take home following your discharge from the hospital to prevent an infection.  You are likely to need regular visits to our clinic to check that your scar is healing correctly.

Discomfort

You can use ordinary over-the-counter pain-killers to stop any pain. It's best to stay mobile, not to lie around or stay in bed for long periods because moving will help you to recover.

Sensitivity and numbness

The area being operated on is close to numerous nerve endings.  There is nearly always some numbness, which will take time to recover.  Your support garment and post-operative massage will help to bring back normal sensation faster.  Some people experience isolated permanent loss of sensation, but it's very rare.

Leakage

A harmless fluid is used to break up the fat cells during the procedure and you can expect a small amount of leakage from the incision site.  We will give you dressings for you to change yourself, and we'll examine you at your first post-operative check-up.

Asymmetry

In some circumstances there can be a slight unevenness.  In the first 2 weeks after your procedure we advise you to have lymphatic massages to help redistribute the remaining fat.

Recovery

You'll need to take a few days off work to get over the operation and anaesthetic.  It's advisable to have somebody with you for the first 48 hours at home.  You should avoid swimming and any strenuous activities for at least 2 weeks.  You will be able to return to light gym activities within 3 weeks.

Success Rate

This procedure is extremely successful for isolated problematic areas.  However, it's not a weight-loss programme, and we advise that you follow a sensible eating plan and exercise to maintain the results.
