Carboxytherapy (treatment for stretch marks, cellulite and localised fat)
What is Carboxytherapy?
Carboxytherapy involves the use of carbon dioxide gas for therapeutic purposes. It is a safe and natural medical procedure that has been clinically proven to improve skin texture, contour and firmness and encourage collagen repair.
Who is it suitable for?
Carboxytherapy is suitable for anyone aged 18 and upwards who suffers from any of the following:
- stretch marks
- cellulite
- localised fat deposits
What can I expect?
A pure CO2 gas is injected beneath the skin, creating a small bubble-like appearance as the gas disperses around the targeted area. It works by infusing CO2 (a natural gas) below the skin, which causes blood vessels to dilate. In doing so, it improves the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin. This improved circulation helps to eliminate the build-up of fluid between cells, resulting in skin rejuvenation, issue remodelling and improved skin elasticity. Treatments are carried out every 2-4 weeks by a qualified practitioner who will advise how many treatments are required. Each treatment usually lasts for just 15 minutes with little discomfort and no down time.
Possible Risks and Side-effects
There are no known risks associated with carboxytherapy.
Infection
As the treatment involves small pinpricks into the skin, it is important to keep the skin free from a dusty or dirty environment to avoid infection.
Bruising
There is the potential for bruising at the injection sites. Bruising is very common when treating the arms and legs, so carboxytherapy might not be a good idea if you plan on exposing your limbs within a week of the treatment.
Recovery
Carboxytherapy requires no down-time to recover.
Success rate
Clinical studies have demonstrated that carboxytherapy improves skin elasticity, improves circulation, encourages collagen repair, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and destroys localised fat deposits.
Carboxytherapy is the only treatment available for both old and new stretch marks that visibly repairs the broken collagen and is safe for all skin types.
