The Channel 4 programme “Embarrassing Bodies” recently featured questions from viewers on stretch marks
(see a clip on http://www.channel4embarrassingillnesses.com/video/doctor-response/doctor-responses-stretch-marks/) and there’s a video and lots of questions from other readers on their website.
It’s a real frustration that we can all get stretch marks and some of us are prone to acne, not just when we’re young. Both can have quite an impact on our lives.
Imagine never being able to wear teeny-weeny bikinis (or trunks), backless or low-cut dresses, or only feeling comfortable or amorous with loved ones with the lights off.
Caused by, for example, rapid weight gain or loss, or often from pregnancy, stretch marks don’t hurt but they make you feel really sensitive and can be embarrassing.
As the doctor on the programme says, some of the lotions and potions you can buy off the shelf go a little way to easing the look of your skin when you have stretch marks but at A New You, we firmly believe that treatments including Carboxytherapy and Dermaroller™ work. You can see more details about both procedures on the relevant pages on our website.
Dermaroller™ is particularly effective for acne scars as well, using a natural needling process to encourage your skin to repair and regenerate itself.
At this time of year we can cover up and pretend stretch marks or acne scars on our bodies aren’t there, but why not give us a call or come in to the clinic and have a chat and we’ll see what we can do to help, so that when the Spring sap starts rising, you’ll be ready to go out and choose all those new body-revealing clothes for next Summer!
Don’t wait till next Spring; do it now. You know it makes sense.
